Colin Firth on Reading

I love Colin Firth . . . not as much as Emun Elliott, but this quote is really awesome. Every time I see it, I think, "Mr. Firth, that's it exactly." I apologize if I've posted it before. I couldn't find it on my list.

Literary Advent Calendar

Been busy and had some personal tragedy recently, so I forgot to post the other day. So he's Book Riot's Literary Advent Calendar a couple day late. So you get to open a couple of the links in a single day!

Ugly Christmas Sweater

Because I've been told Thanksgiving is now Christmas Part 1
Of course, books are never that ugly . . . unless you're editing for people who don't know proper formatting and argue with you about it.

NanoWrimo

So, I didn't intentionally participate in NanoWrimo. I didn't sign up or anything. But on November 13, this romance idea started plaguing my head. Last night I finished it (November 23), a novella, 25,000 words in 10 days. Not bad . . .

Sorry, Peeps

Sorry, couldn't find anything amusing to post today. All the memes seem the same.

On a different note, I turned in the errata draft of the piece I've been editing. After a month of frustration and several hours of work (I'd estimate 30 hours), I've been paid $10.58. I guess I'm leaving another publisher. While I was paid upfront and this was for a single piece, working for publishers so desperate to publish that they're willing to publish anything by authors who do not know the basics of writing, ummm . . . I guess I could always go back to fast food . . . would you like fries with that?

Adverbs

I shouldn't have to say this, but if I as an editor advise you that you have too many adverbs, you need to reduce them, this does not mean change all uses of quickly to very fast. Grrr.
